Rector

Prof. Dr. Musa GENÇCELEP graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in 1988. He completed his military service in 1989. Between 1990 and 1991, he worked as a veterinarian at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

In September 1991, he began his academic career as a Research Assistant in the Department of Surgery at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his Ph.D. in March 1997 and was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the same department in November of the same year.

From July 2001 to February 2004, he served as Vice Dean at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Between 2001 and 2003, he was a General Assembly Member of the Research and Application Center for the Lake Van Region’s Historical Artifacts and Cultural Values. From 2003 to 2006, he served as Assistant Editor of the Veterinary Faculty Journal.

In November 2006, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the field of Veterinary Surgery. From 2008 to 2011, he served as the Associate Professor Representative on the Faculty Executive Board. He was promoted to Professor in 2012. Between 2012 and 2015, he was a member of the Executive Board at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Institute of Health Sciences. In 2015, he graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Open Education, Justice Program.

He served two terms as Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine between 2014 and 2019, and between 2019 and 2021, he was a Senate Representative on the University Executive Board. From 2020 to 2025, he held the position of Dean at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. As of April 10, 2025, he has been appointed as the Rector of Hakkari University.

He is married and the father of four children.
