From 1st to 7th of October 2018, young people from our University took part in an international project organized by the Fundacja Aktywni w Europie – "Youth Against Stereotypes". The project was a common initiative of our youth and young people from Poland and Romania.
The main activities were held in Poronin. Within the project, 36 young people discussed stereotypes, their sources, and consequences, which lead to negative behaviors, such as racism, discrimination or xenophobia, as well as ways to counteract stereotypes.
The aim of the project was to gain new knowledge, attitudes, and competencies that made young people more tolerant, sensitive, and empathic, who take care of others and treat them with respect, react to negative phenomena and promote values such as equality, respect, tolerance, and openness. All activities were carried out in English and based on non-formal education methods.
Within the project, participants organized a thematic session based on the methods of improvised theater. The workshop was devoted to the consequences of stereotyping and involved young people from local school in Murzasichle. During the regional evening, participants, hosting members of the Regle Band, could admire the beautiful highlanders' costumes and dances and listen to highlander music. Within the project, participant organized a promotional and informational campaign "Youth Against Stereotypes" in Zakopane.
During the eight-day meeting, participants gained new knowledge, competencies, learned about their cultures and made many new international friendships.
