Manuscripts, which are important products of our cultural heritage; It constitutes first-hand sources of the world of science and art, collecting the basic information about the period and place in which it is written in various subjects such as history, religion, language, philosophy, geography, astrology, science.

The works, the oldest of which can be dated until the 10th century in our country, reveal the pages of a history of about 900 years. Manuscripts are found in universities, public and private institutions and individuals, including libraries and museums affiliated with our Ministry.

Mostly in the writings created during the Seljuk and Ottoman periods; From the interior of the Ottoman Empire, Asia to Central Europe; The effects of the languages used in the wide geography of North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, from the southernmost ends to the Ural mountains, are seen.

This site contains images of the works in the Archives of the Turkish Literary Institution and the National Library.

DIRECT USE AND COPYING OF WORKS IN LIBRARIES

In order to benefit from the manuscripts found in our libraries, the libraries where the works are located or the Turkish Manuscripts Authority are applied.

The researchers who request to examine the works within the library apply with identity samples and contact information (open address, telephone, e-mail), name and fixture numbers of the works/works they want to benefit from, subjects to be researched and information including the purpose for which they will conduct research (scientific, commercial, education).

Application requests can be made by mail, fax, e-mail and similar means. By the administration, applications are evaluated within 5 days and the results are notified to the applicants. Foreign researchers fill out the Application Form in accordance with the relevant legislation.

If copies of the works are requested, applications are evaluated by the same method and the fees and payment points determined by the administration in accordance with the legislation are notified to the claimants. After the receipt that the payment has been made is sent to the Administration, a copy of the requested works is sent to the address of the researcher.

PURCHASE AND CONNECTION OF MANUSCRIPTS

The purchase of manuscripts is carried out by the Directorate of National Library in Ankara, the Suleymaniye Library Directorate in Istanbul and the Regional Library of Manuscripts in Konya.

The works delivered to the Library Directorates are examined by experts and the price appreciation determined is notified to the author. The author can sell the work to the libraries at the specified price if he wishes.

 

Those who wish to donate manuscripts that belong to you, that you have acquired from your family or that you acquired through purchase, can donate these works to the library of manuscripts. In numerous donations, the collection is kept in the donor's name.
